This Flood Alert remains in force due to the potential for heavy rain this evening, Wednesday 16th October 2024, and into the early hours of Thursday. We do not currently expect to issue flood warnings as a result of this rainfall, however there may be surface water flooding issues in areas affected by the heavier bursts of rainfall.
Currently the main period of concern is from approximately 10pm to 1 am, with levels on the Calder due to peak in Todmorden around 1 am and at Mytholmroyd around 2 am on Thursday morning. Levels are then expected to fall going into daylight hours on Thursday, with the heaviest rain having moved away.
Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible. We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads near rivers.

Less rain than forecast affected the area overnight with minimal river response. However, this Flood Alert remains in force due to the potential for heavy rain today Wednesday 16th October. If the heaviest areas of rain affect the Upper Calder catchment there may be a significant river response as well as surface water flooding issues. Currently the main period of concern is this evening from approximately 6pm to midnight.

Heavy rain is expected in parts of the Calder catchment throughout tonight, Tuesday 15th October, and into early tomorrow morning. River levels are expected to rise as a result and flooding is possible.
Impacts are possible in the Todmorden and Hebden Bridge Area between 3am and 5am tomorrow, Wednesday 16th October. Levels are then anticipated to fall throughout the day. Further rainfall is expected tomorrow evening but further impacts are not currently anticipated.
Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible. Surface Water Flooding may be possible. We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Calder, Hebden Water and Walsden Water, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around River Calder and its tributaries from Todmorden to Brighouse.

River Levels have risen on the River Calder due to persistent heavy rainfall on the 22/05/2024. The rain is forecast to continue into the night and into Thursday morning, 23/05/2024. We are seeing a response in the River Calder which is forecast to continue into the evening with levels currently expected to peak at 8:30pm at Todmorden and around midnight at Brighouse.
Flooding is possible from the River Calder and its tributaries, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly from Todmorden to Brighouse. We are closely monitoring the situation. The rain is forecast to continue to move up from the southeast and continue into Thursday morning, 23/05/2024. We expect to see a response in the River Calder throughout the evening with levels currently forecast to peak at 5pm at Todmorden and 9pm at Brighouse.

This alert has been issued on the forecast of tonight’s rain. This rain will move across our catchments from the southwest, starting Thursday evening, 04/04/24, and continuing into Friday morning, 05/04/24. With catchments still wet, we expect to see a response in the river overnight with levels rising through the night before beginning to peak during the morning. Areas most at risk include the River Calder and its tributaries, from Todmorden to Brighouse.
Further rain is forecast over the next 24 hours and river levels could rise again as a result. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

This rainfall is forecast to continue through the morning with further showers forecast over the coming days. River levels are expected to peak around 9am at Walsden with the peak moving down the Upper Calder catchment through the morning today, 27/12/2023.

This flood alert remains in force due to elevated river levels in the Upper River Calder Catchment between Todmorden and Brighouse. River levels are expected to remain high through into the early hours of Monday 24thd July 2023 Levels are expected to fall during the morning as the rain clears away to the south.
This rain may lead to some localised surface water flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our operational staff have been in the area today, checking our flood defences and known hot spots. We have closed the flood gate at Vale Bridgecraft, Mytholmroyd, as a precaution and will open it ahead of business opening time in the morning.

This flood alert has been issued in response to rising river levels on the River Calder between Todmorden and Brighouse. Today and throughout tomorrow, Sunday 23rd July 2023, persistent rainfall is forecast, with a spell of heavier rain expected tonight. River levels are currently forecast to peak in Todmorden tomorrow between 03:00 AM and 08:00 AM and predicted to peak downstream in Brighouse around 10:00 AM to 12 noon. This persistent rain could lead to flooding of low-lying land and localised surface water flooding. We are not currently expecting to issue widespread flood warnings but will be closely monitoring the situation.

This flood alert has been issued as we are expecting heavy showers and thunderstorms to affect areas across the Upper Calder this evening and into the early morning, Monday19th June.
It is not possible to predict the precise location of these thunderstorms, but where they occur there’s a risk of localised surface water flooding and flooding from smaller rivers affecting roads, homes and businesses.
This means that we are taking the precautionary measure of issuing a flood alert.
In anticipation of these thunderstorms our staff are monitoring the situation and our field teams are working with partners to ensure that defences and trash screens are clear of obstructions.

River levels are forecast to rise as a result of heavy rainfall this afternoon. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible between 14:00 and 22:00 today, 30/09/2022. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads. We expect the river response to be largely in the upper end of the catchment where river levels will begin rising from around 13:00, peaking this afternoon from around 17:00 as the heaviest rain passes through. The latest forecast indicates the possibility of flooding in the upper river around Walsden but as this part of the river is on the eastern edge of the main band of rain moving north, there is significant uncertainty around any impacts.

Later this evening and into the early hours of 29 July the Upper River Calder and it’s feeder streams between Walsden and Brighouse could be affected by a band of heavy showers passing over the area from the west. The specific locations of these showers is subject to a high degree of uncertainty but we could see some impacts on water levels from around midnight tonight and into the early hours of tomorrow morning. The latest forecast indicates that flooding of lower lying land and ponding of water on some roads is the most likely outcome where these showers occur. At this stage, flooding of property by the river is not expected, but we will review this information as the evening progresses. Our teams in the field have been out to check key river locations for material that could block bridges and culverts to help minimise flood risk.

River levels are forecast to rise across the Upper Calder Catchment as a result of persistent rainfall, from late Monday evening until Thursday morning. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible from Tuesday morning onwards. Areas most at risk are low lying land, roads and farmland. As a result we expect to see high river levels from Tuesday morning around 6am. We will be monitoring closely to assess locations where we may need to issue flood warnings. Our field teams are out today, checking defences and clearing screens ahead of the rainfall. We are liaising closely with our partners to ensure they are ready to respond.
Please put your flood plan into action and activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers. Avoid using low lying footpaths near watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid roads which may be flooded.

River levels are elevated along the Upper Calder as a result of rainfall and snowmelt. More light rain is forecast this evening, 11/01/21, and further snowmelt is also likely. This may result in a further increase of river levels overnight, peaking in the early hours of the morning. We do not expect to have to issue widespread flood warnings with the current forecast, but are issuing this alert as a precaution as there is some uncertainty around the volume of snowmelt we will see overnight. Isolated flood warnings are possible, but not likely. Areas most at risk are the upper reaches of the Calder, and warnings will be issued if property flooding is expected. No further significant rain is forecast for tomorrow, 12/01/21. Please be prepared to act on your flood plan and take care when walking or driving on low-lying land. Following recent rainfall which has left ground saturated, river levels have risen as a result of Storm Dennis. Rainfall is expected to continue through tonight, 15/02/20, and into Sunday morning, with a period of more sustained rainfall from the late evening.
Currently, river levels are expected to level out in response to breaks in rainfall, but will then continue to rise in response to the sustained rainfall through the evening and peak early Sunday morning. Current forecasts indicate that peak levels will be below those seen during Storm Ciara.
Flooding of low-lying roads and farmland is possible this evening into Sunday.

Following recent rainfall which has left ground saturated, river levels are forecast to rise as a result of Storm Dennis. Rainfall is expected to intensify from midday today, 15 February 2020. Based on the current forecast, river levels are likely to rise rapidly, from this afternoon due to the flashy nature of the catchment and peak early Sunday Morning, 16 February. Flooding of properties, roads and farmland is possible this evening into Sunday and beyond.

River levels remain elevated but are falling following persistent heavy rainfall due to Storm Ciara. The River Calder peaked late on Sunday afternoon.
Whilst further scattered showers are forecast throughout the rest of today, 10/02/20, we do not anticipate a significant river level response. This Flood Alert remains in force as flooding may still affect roads and low lying land in the catchment. All Flood Warnings for this area have now been removed.

Although the heavy rainfall has eased, high winds and further showers are forecast this evening and into Monday, 10/02/2020. River levels have risen and will continue to rise until this afternoon (09/02/2020) as a result of persistent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Ciara. Further heavy bands of rain and high winds are expected to continue through to midday today so the risk of flooding to low-lying land and roads remains.
Particular areas of concern are rapid responding watercourses. Flood warnings are in force at Walsden, Brearley and Halifax. Walsden Rochdale Road siren was sounded at 06:25, 09/02/20. The flood warning for Brearley is also in force.
Based on current river level forecasts widespread warnings are unlikely, however we continue to monitor the situation.

We expect river levels to start rising around 10pm on Saturday and to peak around 7am on Sunday (09/02/2020), with levels remaining high until Sunday afternoon. River Calder, Walsden Water, Hebden Water
River levels are rising in response to heavy rain. The heaviest of the rainfall is expected to be between 4 and 7pm this evening, 10.12.2019, which may lead to surface water flooding affecting roads in the area and cause smaller streams and becks to rise quickly.
The highest levels in Walsden and Todmorden are expected to around 5 to7 pm this evening, and around 7 to 8pm in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd. Rivers are then expected to fall again overnight.
We do not currently expect to issue flood warnings, but we will continue to monitor the situation closely. Our contractors have installed our temporary defences in Mytholmroyd this afternoon.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses, and do not put yourself at risk by driving or walking through flood water.
